As a Cultural Care local childcare consultant (LCC), I invite our host families and au pairs as well as those considering Cultural Care Au Pair to explore my site and learn about what is going on in our community. I provide year-round support to host families and au pairs, and also talk to families considering the program to help them determine if Cultural Care Au Pair is the right childcare solution for them.
About Kimberly….. I have been in the Centreville area for the last 10 years, and have been in Northern Virginia since 1986. I have been a part of the Cultural Care Au Pair family for the last 11 years as a host mom. While I continue to be a host mom, my love for the cultural care program inspired me to expand my role and become a LCC (Local Childcare Consultant)!
I am a mother of two, Austin now age 22 and Rebecca age 14. Austin graduated from Westfield High School. Rebecca, also known as “The Princess”, is now a freshman at Westfield High School. She is a quadrepeligic special needs child who loves horsebacking riding and aquatic therapy. As a single parent for over 10 years, I am well aware of the critical importance of finding the right au pair to meet your family’s very specific childcare needs.
We have had wonderful au pairs over the years who have provided stability and “big sister” support for my oldest child, while also nuturing and motivating Princess Rebecca during those challenging therapy sessions! Each au pair has brought their own blend of special gifts to our family, and have left imprints on our hearts that will last forever.
When I’m not doing Cultural Care work, I work as the Director of Philanthropy at a local Retirement Community. I am responsible for establishing, planning, directing, and coordinating all fundraising activities for the Community. Specifically, I am responsible for the creation of strategic fund development initiatives to include: a major and planned giving program, annual giving, corporate and foundation giving, donor stewardship and recognition programs, and public relations related to development. Prior to this position, I worked wtih Marriott International Senior Living Services for nine years. At Marriott, I was responsible for leisure programming for seniors in independent living, assisted living, alzheimer’s care, and nursing care in addition to overseeing transportation and the fitness center.
In my spare time, I enjoy summer outdoor concerts at Wolf Trap, Jiffy Lube Live, Friday Night Live Herndon and the Reston Town Center. Anything with country music is always a plus! The Kennedy Center has a wonderful family theatre series, and I encourage families to explore that with their children. It is great for children under age 10. Of course, anything to do with shopping and craft festivals is always fun!
And despite their losing record, I am a die-hard Redskins fan.
